CHL Workshop: "knitting as rest" - Los Angeles, CA

  • West Los Angeles United States (map)

TeAda Productions is excited to announce CreAtive Healing Lab (CHL) which will take place from March through June, 2025. As part of this series, 7 all-star guest teaching artists will facilitate 7 workshops that combine the arts, social justice, and collective healing. The goal of CHL is to be a sanctuary-third place for community to gather, process current events, imagine sustainable futures, community-build, and heal through sharing space and creating art.

The fifth workshop of this series is titled “knitting as rest” and will be led by Nancy Lee.

About the workshop: Learn and practice finger knitting with fiber artist Nancy Lee. Creating and learning in community with no expectations of perfection or productivity combined with the physical act of finger-knitting with soft yarns offers healing during these tumultuous times. We will make cozy scarves while discussing radical rest practices, using Tricia Hersey's Rest Deck cards as prompts. Let's spend a Saturday morning dreaming and crafting together, connecting with like-minded people pursuing counter-cultural rhythms of radical rest.

About the facilitator: handmade by nensh is Nancy Lee (she/they) is a self-taught fiber artist from Los Angeles (also known as Tovaangar) and the Korean diaspora. She crochets and knits and teaches workshops. Giant yarn bags are their specialty, and always try making new cozy creations. After a career working in art museums, she experimented with rest, play, art, volunteering, and other interests. Their creative practice encompasses every aspect of their life from crafting to language justice through Korean interpretation work and studying to become a librarian.
