CHL Workshop: "Creating Character with Action" - Los Angeles, CA

  • West Los Angeles United States (map)

TeAda Productions is excited to announce CreAtive Healing Lab (CHL) which will take place from March through June, 2025. As part of this series, 7 all-star guest teaching artists will facilitate 7 workshops that combine the arts, social justice, and collective healing. The goal of CHL is to be a sanctuary-third place for community to gather, process current events, imagine sustainable futures, community-build, and heal through sharing space and creating art.

The second workshop of this series is titled “Creating Character with Action” and will be led by Amery Thao.

About the workshop: This acting class will explore the depth and breadth of character creation through exploration of our imagination, movement, and voice using TeAda's methodology (which involves personal storytelling, devised ensemble creation, and various theater-building activities). Come dressed to move. You may come with an idea of a character you wish to workshop or may explore and find during this workshop.

About the facilitator: Amery Ken Thao is an American actor based in Los Angeles. He is a graduate of California State University, Long Beach with a B.A. in Media Studies. Before pursuing acting, he cut his teeth telling stories working behind the camera in non-scripted television as well as directing staged productions with Los Angeles based theatre company Urban Theatre Movement.
